Some Essential Articles for the study of the Mexican War
A wonderful and mandatory book for any Mexican War enthusiast. The best article is from one of the two Mexican historians, Miguel A. Gonzalez Quiroga. He examines the humanity on both sides. Mostly ignoring whose fault the war was, he writes a beautiful eulogy of the dead of both sides. Wonderful! The worst article was the other historian from Mexico, Josefina Zoraida Vazguez. She beats a dead horse. Her argument has been argued by American historians since the 60's. However, Sam Haynes's article on relations between the US, Mexico, and Britain is superb. It not only discusses the almost inevitable conflict with Britain and the US prior to the fighting at the Rio Grande, but also points out the why the British were not coming in to help Mexico. Another superb article was by Michael Roth's article on Journalism in the war. Roth's work is a must for those interested in the cultural side of the American soldiers experience in Mexico. Overall and excellent collection of work.

An Ear for Danger (The 3 Investigators, Crimebusters, No 5)

Mountains and a Burro.....
An Ear For Danger is a genuinely clever story from the Crimbusters series. It is not the best of the series but has a swift and intriguing plot, set in the well described Sierra Mountains - which, the auther takes time to note, literally means the Mountain Moutains. The plot centres on a burro (mule) named Blondie, and her mystifying connection with Jupiter Jones...

Easy Field Guide to Common Mammals of New Mexico

Leightweight guide - PACK IT IN!
Bought at a visitor center in western New Mexico this tiny book was my lightweight companion (among other humans) during an eight day hike. The black and white drawings are added with comments on habitat and behaviour, size, weight etc. Many of the common mammals of NM are shown: From Black-tailed Jackrabbit to badger, bobcat, peccary. From Porcupine to Bighorn. Even a checklist and the scientific names are included. A very good compilation for the compromise between weight and content. Keep it allways in your pocket!

El Gran Pueblo
Excellent book. This is not your ordinary, boring history of Mexico book. The reading flows very well. Learn everything: from the beginning of Cortez to Porfirio Diaz to Carlos Salinas. It will amaze you on how much information on Mexico they place in a 480+ page book. Great for history buffs like me

El nuevo conquistador de Mexico: Una fabula? (Traducido del original America's Man on Horseback: A Fable?)
